Hi there, Brian from Aquabatics here, and today we're talking about how to do a basic fit of your PFD.

I like to start with all the straps loose, so that way I can get a consistent fit every time.

First thing's first, do up the belly buckle. This is really important because that's what's gonna grab on your ribcage if you fall in the water.

Next is the zipper. On lot of life jackets, you use your zipper as a landmark. The bottom of the zipper should be around your belly button level.

Now that we've got our PFD on right now, we can tell it's not quite fitting proper. What we're gonna do is tighten everything up, starting with our hips and going up to our shoulders.

It should feel like a good solid hug. If you have multiple straps on the side, you wanna make sure that everything is pulled equally so that the PFD isn't lopsided and ill-fitting.

And then we just adjust shoulders to tension. Now the PFDs solid and secure on my body and I'm ready to hit the water!
