The Intro to Sea Kayaking Weekend is 2 full days of touring kayak instruction in and around the Calgary/Kananaskis area.
The aim of this program is to introduce participants to kayak touring/sea kayak basics in a fairly comprehensive manner. During the weekend paddlers will learn and practise a number of different sea kayak solo and assisted rescues, basic paddling skills and boat control, trip planning, gear/boat overview, kayak packing, weather considerations and much more. On the Sunday we will paddle on a super beautiful mountain lake.
After completing this course participants can expect to have a good understanding of how to organize and implement a 1 - 2 day sea kayak trip in a mountain lake environment safely and with confidence. This a great program for those planning on self-guided or guided trips on the ocean also.
