The AQ Outdoors Calgary 5-Day Whitewater Instruction-only program is a technical skills-focused progression for intermediate whitewater kayakers.
The aim of this program is to immerse participants in whitewater kayak instruction for 5 days. Over this time frame our instructors will polish current skills and introduce new ones, under the framework of fun and safety with the ultimate goal of improving participants' whitewater paddling ability. We strive to help paddlers improve their technical paddling ability, experience new rivers, and impart our knowledge and passion for whitewater to all guests.
After completing this course participants can expect to have improved on the skills they wanted to work on and, to have been introduced to and practiced many others. Our holistic approach to kayak instruction will include elements of river safety, technical skills, scouting, group dynamics/communications and much more.
The scope of the program is nearly endless and our instructors will continually ask what paddlers want to work on and will facilitate that learning
NOTE: This is an intermediate level program. Paddlers should be comfortable in Class II and have had some experience Class III.
