Happy New Year Everyone!
Sorry for the delay in getting this online, had a hard time carving out 30 minutes or so to put this all together.
We had a great, albeit chilly day out in the Pulpit Sub Peak zone this past Monday (January 2nd). 6 of us left the car at around 9:30am with the thermometer reading a super balmy -32 C. Suffice to say we moved quickly and our rest breaks were few and far between
We found a mixed bag of snow conditions, the south facing slopes of Pulpit resembled a ski hill, it looked like a good sized crew had a great shred day or two over the weekend. With that we decided to ride some north and east facing terrain and we were treated to some great turns. New snow on top of mainly facets, lots of thick isolated wind slabs too which kept us thinking about our up tracks. From the groups observations we all agreed that in spite of the moderate avy hazard on the day we wouldn't have wanted to get out into anything too exposed.
We ended up making a pretty full day of it, by the time we returned to the vehicles at 4:15pm the temps had risen to about -18 C.
Great day, fun zone and, we are starting to get used to these cold starts.
We hope everyone has some great weekend shred plans!
