NRS Straps are the industry standard when it comes to a robust strap that will stand up to UV light and wet / dry cycles.
Before the founder of NRS invented these now ubiquitous straps, people were still using rope or tubular webbing. The big issue with these materials is that they expand and stretch when wet, then tighten back up when they dry.
This wasn’t ideal in a river / wet environment because ropes and webbing would be untrustworthy if you were using them to tie anything down that was heavy or could move easily.
