Does Your Pyranha Kayak Need the Elite Connection Kit?

If you paddle a Pyranha kayak with Elite Outfitting, there's an important update you'll want to know about.

Pyranha has released the new Elite Connection Kit, a recommended retrofit designed to strengthen the connection between the thigh brace hanger and the kayak hull. The good news is that the kits have arrived at AQ Outdoors, and we're offering free installation on eligible boats at our Calgary shop.

If you're not sure whether your kayak needs the upgrade, it's easy to check.

What Is the Pyranha Elite Connection Kit?

The Pyranha Elite Connection Kit is a simple retrofit developed by Pyranha to reinforce the connection between the Elite thigh brace hanger and the hull. While the original Elite Outfitting has proven to be a high-performance system, Pyranha identified an opportunity to make this connection even stronger and more durable over the long term.

By adding additional support to this area, the retrofit reduces flex between the outfitting and the hull during aggressive paddling. That means a more solid connection between you and your kayak while also helping protect the cockpit area from unnecessary stress over time.

For paddlers who spend a lot of time in technical whitewater, running bigger drops, or simply getting out every weekend, having a rigid outfitting system makes a noticeable difference. A secure fit helps transfer your movements into the boat more efficiently, giving you better control when edging, rolling, and making precise moves on the river.

Does My Kayak Need the Retrofit?

Fortunately, checking your kayak only takes a few seconds.

If your kayak already has two black bolts located above the thigh brace hanger, your boat already has the updated connection system installed, and you do not need the retrofit kit.

If your kayak has Pyranha Elite Outfitting but does not have the two black bolts above the thigh brace hanger, Pyranha recommends installing the Elite Connection Kit.

Free Installation at AQ Outdoors

The Retrofit kits are only available in-store on a first-come, first-served basis at our Calgary location. However, we'll install them free of charge on any and all eligible kayaks.

Just bring your boat by the shop and our team will take care of the installation for you.

If making it into the store isn't convenient, that's okay too. The Elite Connection Kit is designed to be installed at home using basic hand tools, and the process takes less than 20 minutes for most paddlers.
